Biography

I am a pharmacoepidemiologist with a special focus on (i) studying the determinants of maternal and newborn health; (ii) examining the utilization and outcomes of existing and new prescription medications in pregnant women and their offspring using large pregnancy cohorts established through linkages within and across multiple healthcare utilization databases, including claims databases, state Birth Certificate records, as well as electronic health records; and (iii) developing and validating innovative methodologies to advance research in perinatal and pediatric pharmacoepidemiology.

I have extensive experience in the creation of large pregnancy and pediatric cohorts. I have developed and validated gestational age algorithms using machine learning approaches using the Medicaid-BC linked pregnancy cohort, as well as algorithms to identify pregnancy losses and estimate gestational age using electronic health records. These established methods largely enhance the usability of large healthcare utilization databases for causal inference studies in pregnant women and their offspring.
