Biography

I have worked as a Statistician on infectious disease clinical trials for over seventeen years; advancing statistical methodology, mentoring quantitative scientists and collaborating with numerous international investigators. My academic training and research experience have provided me with an excellent background in statistical theory, as well as study design, monitoring and analysis.

As part of my master’s degree project, I conducted research using data from the UK HIV drug resistance database on the role of the HIV-1 subtype on response to antiretroviral therapy (ART). As a Statistician with the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), my research focused on ART for HIV-infected children. Subsequently, I worked internationally in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and then came to Boston in the USA. I continually collaborated on infectious disease clinical trials. I was Senior Statistician for the iTAP clinical trial investigating tenofovir for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B, and Senior Statistician for the antiretroviral strategies section of the NIAID-funded group for Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV/AIDS and Other Infections (ACTG).

I continued to build on these research skills throughout my PhD in Biostatistics at Harvard University. I developed methods for the design of cluster-randomized trials, with specific applications to infectious disease control. Since 2021, I have been Senior Statistician for the tuberculosis section of the ACTG and involved in their COVID-19 treatment trials. I am the lead Statistician on two multi-arm trials evaluating several treatment regimens and durations for drug-susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis, as well as the lead Statistician on a number of trials evaluating treatment for tuberculosis and drug interactions with HIV drugs.
