Biography

Hao Yi is a primary care and public health physician with a passion for global health systems, healthcare management and strategy, and primary care. His public health work, primarily based in Singapore, includes roles at the Ministry of Health, where he contributed to biopharmaceutical regulation, infectious disease surveillance systems, and clinical quality improvement.

He is currently based at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) - Singapore's flagship hospital - in the Population Health and Integrated Care Division, where his work focuses on population health programmes, program evaluation, and healthcare strategy and management. He also holds an academic appointment as a Research Associate at the Practice Office of the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health.

In July 2025, Hao Yi was appointed Chief Resident of Singapore’s National Preventive Medicine Residency. In this role, he leads the residency and oversees programme coordination and development for residents across all training stages. Internationally, he served as a guest lecturer and produced multiple educational materials for the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health course “Comparative Health Systems I” alongside Prof Winnie Yip and Emeritus Prof William Hsiao.

In addition to his public health practice, Hao Yi has clinical experience in primary care, internal medicine, and general surgery. He integrates his frontline medical knowledge with systems-level expertise to design and implement innovative strategies that improve patient care, enhance clinical outcomes, and build sustainable, people-centred health delivery systems. His work is driven by a commitment to bridging the gap between frontline care and broader health policy—ensuring that health systems are not only efficient, but also equitable and responsive to future challenges.
