Stephanie Simon, Dean for Communications and Strategic Initiatives

Stephanie Simon

Stephanie Simon is the Dean for Communications and Strategic Initiatives at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She leads the School’s internal and external communication strategies across platforms and oversees divisions including the Harvard Chan Studio and Harvard Public Health magazine. She is also a founding advisor to Harvard HealthLab, an accelerator for students’ social impact ventures.

Before joining Harvard Chan School, Stephanie served as a managing director of Ten Bridge Communications, where she led teams that established and executed communications strategies for biotech companies working in fields such as gene therapy, genome editing, and RNA therapeutics.

Stephanie started her career as a journalist. As a national reporter for the Los Angeles Times and  Wall Street Journal, she traveled the country exploring the real-world impact of political debates and policy decisions on issues including abortion, health care, poverty, and the environment. She also spent several years covering national education policy at POLITICO and Reuters, with a particular focus on the rise of charter schools.

In 2015, Stephanie worked with a small leadership team to launch the life sciences publication STAT and shape its editorial and business strategies. As a founding managing editor, she directed STAT’s extensive coverage of the biopharma industry.

Stephanie holds a BA in English from Yale University.
