Xihong Lin elected to National Academy of Sciences

May 4, 2023 – Xihong Lin, professor of biostatistics and coordinating director of the Program in Quantitative Genomics at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS). She is one of 120 new members announced by the NAS on May 2.

NAS members are elected in recognition of their “distinguished and continuing achievements in original research” and is “one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive,” according to the NAS press release.

Lin’s research is focused on the development and application of scalable statistical and machine learning methods for the analysis of massive data from the genome, exposome, and phenome, including big and complex genetic and genomic, epidemiological, and health data.

The NAS, a nonprofit organization of the country’s leading researchers, provides science-based advice to the federal government and other organizations.
