Help for Windows computers affected by Crowdstrike
On Friday, 7/19/24, a faulty update from our security vendor Crowdstrike impacted Windows servers, laptops and desktop machines. This was a global issue that caused much disruption impacting travel, banking, and other systems. All Windows-based servers and services have been remediated and were operational as of Friday morning.
If you are having difficulty with your Windows laptop or desktop PC (e.g. “blue screen of death” or other error message), please try these self-help instructions to get back up and running.
If you need further help, please bring your laptop to the SPH IT Help Desk, submit a Help Desk ticket, or give us a call at 617-432-HELP (4357) for remote help or a visit to your office. SPH Field Support Services will prioritize these tickets.
Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is diligently working through central systems and most systems are fully operational. See HUIT status page for updates.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the issue.
