LastPass support ends 9/23/23. Switch to 1Password now.
1Password has replaced LastPass as Harvard’s recommended password manager. Harvard’s contract with LastPass ends on 9/23/23. If you have not already switched, please do so before 9/23/23. Using industry-leading security, 1Password organizes all of your passwords in one secure, central location.
What do I need to do?
All active faculty and staff are eligible for a 1Password Business account which also entitles you to a free 1Password Families membership to share with your family members.
If you’d like to transfer your LastPass passwords to 1Password, follow these instructions:
- Create a 1Password Business account and activate your Family account.
- Transfer your LastPass data to your 1Password Family account. We recommend that you keep all personal passwords in your Family account.
- Once you have confirmed that your LastPass passwords have successfully transferred to your 1Password Family account, you may safely delete them from your LastPass account.
If you keep your Harvard-provided LastPass account, your ability to renew your LastPass Premium account will end on September 23, 2023, and your account will automatically transition to a Free account. You can export your passwords and choose another password management service or provide payment to renew your LastPass Premium account.
If you also have a LastPass Enterprise account, please expect to hear from your local administrator or school security officer in the next few weeks about steps to transition your Enterprise account.
