Thomas Martinelli
Biography
Tom has nearly 30 years of experience as a safety and health professional. He previously served as a corporate safety, environmental, and workers’ compensation manager before transitioning to his current role as a risk control consultant for a commercial insurance brokerage. He works with industry-leading companies across manufacturing, hospitality, food service, healthcare, education, and construction.
A Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Tom specializes in evaluating workplace exposures to noise, chemicals, ergonomic stressors, temperature extremes, and biological hazards. He actively assesses indoor air quality (IAQ) in accordance with ASHRAE standards and investigates mold growth to ensure healthy environments.
Tom leads pre-loss accident prevention, risk management, and regulatory compliance initiatives tailored to his clients' specific needs. His focus is on identifying and mitigating cost drivers within casualty risk management programs, helping clients seamlessly integrate loss prevention and compliance into their operations and corporate culture.
His services include onsite audits, customized safety programs, training, and mentoring safety professionals. Tom takes a collaborative approach, positioning himself as an integral member of his clients’ teams.
He holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.S. in Occupational Hygiene and Safety from West Virginia University’s College of Engineering. He has also earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
