Biography

Shiby Thomas is the Director of Enterprise Analytics at Boston Medical Center. He provides leadership, vision, strategy and overall management for Clinical Data Warehousing and Analytics at BMC. He is an expert in Clinical Data Management and quality measurement. He led the development of BMC's Clinical Data Warehouse, which has grown to be a comprehensive clinical data repository on the hospital side of healthcare and the associated analytical reports and dashboards. BMC Clinical Data Warehouse is also a certified PQRI Registry to compute and submit Physician Quality reports to CMS. Prior to joining BMC in 2005, he worked for Oracle Corporation for about 7 years. At Oracle, he worked in the RDBMS server development group and was instrumental in developing data mining functionality within the database server.

He has published several papers and holds patents on data mining and is the recipient of the 1998 ACM SIGMOD best paper award. His data warehousing work at BMC has received several awards including the Informatica Innovation award and the Computer World Laureate award. He holds a Masters from the Indian Institute of Technology and a PhD from the University of Florida in computer science and a High Technology MBA from Northeastern University.
