Biography
Michael P. Whalen Jr. has a BS and MS in Health Physics from the University
of Massachusetts in Lowell, MA and is a Certified Health Physicist (CHP).
His work experience includes 7 years in the Harvard University EH&S Department
as an Associate Radiation Safety Officer. He currently works for the State of Massachusetts Radiation Control Program (RCP) as a Senior Health Physicist and currently focused on implementing the NRC-mandated Increased Control (IC) security requirements, decommissioning Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station, and writing/maintaining the RCP databases.
Mr. Whalen is a CRCPD and OAS representative on the NRC's Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) which assesses the adequacy of other Agreement State radiation safety programs. And, is currently the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) E-23 Chairperson for the Resource Recovery and Radioactivity committee..
