Biography
James H. (Jim) Hinton is the President and CEO of Presbyterian Healthcare Services, New Mexico’s only private, not-for-profit healthcare system, comprised of eight hospitals in seven communities, the state’s largest health plan and a fast-growing multi-specialty medical group.
Recent Presbyterian accomplishments include:
- (2008) Business Finance Magazine’s 2008 Vision Award for its performance management program.
- (2007) #4 ranking (out of 550) for America’s Top 10 Integrated Healthcare Delivery Networks.
- (2006) National Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award site visit for the second year in a row.
- (2005) “Most Preferred for Overall Healthcare Services” by The National Research Corporation for the tenth year in a row.
Mr. Hinton earned his master’s degree of Health Care Administration from Arizona State University. As President and CEO since July 1995, Mr. Hinton has been with Presbyterian for more than 26 years. Active in health care policy issues that affect New Mexicans, he served as chair of the Governor’s task force for healthcare reform and also served on the Insure New Mexico Council. He serves in Board and chair roles for several local organizations, and on the Boards of Premier, Inc. and Healthcare Institute. Mr. Hinton and his wife, Carol, have two children.
