Biography

Alexander Golubkov, MD, MPH, currently serves as the Medical Director for Russia and Kazakhstan for Partners In Health (PIH), a non-profit international public health NGO based in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Golubkov supervises all medical and program activities for PIH Projects in Russia and Kazakhstan, including medical care for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, training programs, research activities, and grants implementation. Dr. Golubkov coordinates Russia, Kazakhstan and Boston-based physicians, researchers and project staff based in Partners In Health offices and at the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, of which Dr. Golubkov has a clinical appointment as an associate physician. As a medical Director, Dr. Golubkov integrates Russia clinical activities with other PIH projects, collaborates with partner organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), CDC, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM), USAID and other agencies working on tuberculosis and HIV in the Former Soviet Union. Dr. Alexander Golubkov has a Medical Degree from the Novosibirsk Medical School and Master of Public Health degree from the Boston University School of Public Health. Before his appointment as Medical Director, he served as a Russia Project Manager at PIH/Boston, and before joining he Boston team, Dr. Golubkov worked for PIH Russia project in Tomsk office, where his primary responsibilities were: managing the implementation of the $10.8m GFATM grant for Tomsk territory (one of the Russian territory with population of 1 million people); serving as a liaison with international partners and donors; supervision of the clinical work; coordinating and managing the Monitoring and Evaluation component of the GFATM grant. Before joining the PIH, Dr. Golubkov served as a medical doctor at the Novosibirsk Institute for Cardiac Surgery.
