Kristin Garland, CIH has been providing safety consulting services for over 20 years. After obtaining her B.S. in biotechnology from WPI, she spent 7 years working in development research at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME and Curis, Inc. (FKA Ontogeny) in Cambridge, MA where she developed a deep understanding of the biotechnology industry. Kristin leveraged this knowledge and provided safety consulting services to local companies in the biotech space while becoming ABIH-certified as an industrial hygienist (CIH) during this time. Dr. Gassert’s current interests are twofold: international training in basic and specialized occupational and environmental health (OEH) services in alignment with the UN 2030 SDGs and ILO Conventions 155, 187 and 161, and climate change resilience for planetary health, using tools and roadmaps for both. He is focused on ways to help mitigate what he sees as the five global OEH crises: occupational diseases and deaths, climate change impacts, pandemics, nuclear and armed conflicts, and unethical use of artificial intelligence. Quentin Gilly is the senior coordinator with the Harvard Office for Sustainability. Along with Anthony Michetti, he manages the Green Labs Program at the Faculty of Arts & Sciences where he focuses on new and innovative ways to improve lab energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The majority of his work focuses on occupant engagement with scientists and facility operators, as well as consulting on lab design and renovation projects happening on campus. As Chief Technology Officer for Canada Health Infoway (Infoway), Mr. Giokas is the corporation’s lead for the definition of health information and communications technology solutions. He heads Infoway’s Emerging Technology Group. In that capacity he is responsible for the new Tech Watch agenda, for Infoway’s International Advisory Services, and for the Health System Use (secondary use of data) agenda. Mr. Giokas oversees the architecture aspects of Infoway’s new EHR investment areas as well as the tracking, evaluation, and promotion of enabling technology and standards innovations.
