Ivan Oransky, MD, is co-founder of Retraction Watch, editor in chief of Spectrum, and distinguished journalist in residence at New York University's Arthur Carter Journalism Institute. Ivan previously was vice president of editorial at Medscape, global editorial director of MedPage Today, executive editor of Reuters Health, and held editorial positions at Scientific American and The Scientist. Dr. Orav is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Biostatistics) at Harvard Medical School and also at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. He received his PhD in Statistics from Stanford University and has worked as a collaborative biostatistician in the Division of General Medicine for the past 40 years.Dr. Orav has been involved with a number of collaborative research projects ranging from clinical trials of medical and behavioral therapy for arthritis patients, to epidemiological studies of problem drinking and substance use, and to randomized trials of weight loss in adults and children. Dr. Overhage is President and CEO of the Indiana Health Information Exchange, Director of Medical Informatics at the Regenstrief Institute, Inc., and a professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has spent over 25 years developing and implementing scientific and clinical systems and evaluating their value. Working with Dr. Clement McDonald, one of the pioneers of medical informatics, he has created an electronic patient record (called the Indiana Network for Patient Care) containing data from many sources including laboratories, pharmacies and hospitals in central Indiana. Dr. Pandya loves teaching introductory health decision science and conducting research built on these methods. His areas of interest are: 1) applied decision science studies evaluating cardiovascular disease policies; 2) connecting cost-effectiveness analysis with broader value-based health policies being implemented or piloted in U.S. health reform; and 3) methodological topics within cost-effectiveness modeling (calibration, validation, distributional cost-effectiveness analysis). Vikram Patel is The Pershing Square Professor of Global Health and Welcome Trust Principal Research Fellow at the Harvard Medical School. He co-leads the GlobalMentalHealth@Harvard initiative.
