For too long, people with disabilities have been on the margins of science — but that’s starting to change. Kiana Jackson of the nonprofit New Disabled South calls for academia to include more people with disabilities in leadership roles — and to consider the intersectionality of disability, health, and disparities. Such inclusivity can boost scientific innovation and problem-solving.

ⓘ Harvard Chan School hosts a diverse array of speakers, invited to share both scholarly research and personal perspectives. They do not speak for the School, and hosting them does not imply endorsement of their views, organizations, or employers.
