Richard Cash Memorial Fund
On October 22, 2024, Richard Cash passed away after decades of service in the Department of Global Health and Population. Richard’s passing was a massive loss to the department, the Harvard Chan School, and the global public health community. To honor Richard’s lifelong commitment to improving the lives of people around the world, we are pleased to announce that the Harvard Chan School has established the Richard Cash Memorial Fund.
Richard was widely recognized for his contributions to developing oral rehydration therapy (ORT), a technique that has since been credited with saving millions of lives and has been described by The Lancet as “potentially the most significant medical advance of the century.” Beyond his public health impact, Richard influenced innumerable students, colleagues, and friends over his nearly five decades at the School. Throughout his career, he remained dedicated to working with communities to find simple, accessible, and effective solutions.
The Richard Cash Memorial Fund will be directed to GHP to honor Richard through a named endeavor. Please consider supporting this goal and sharing this request with your professional contacts who also recognize Richard’s contributions to the field of public health and would wish to see him honored. We appreciate your contribution to ensuring that Richard’s legacy is remembered.
