The impediments to high-risk, high-return research (ID Epi Seminar Series)

This hybrid in-person/virtual seminar will be presented by Carl Bergstrom, Professor at the Department of Biology, University of Washington. The in-person portion will be held in Kresge G3 and does not require registration. Register for the seminar here.

Dr. Bergstrom is a Professor of Biology at the University of Washington. The unifying theme of his work is the concept of information; how communication evolves and how the process of evolution encodes information in genomes; how norms and institutions influence scholars’ research strategies and our scientific understanding of the world; and how citations and other scholarly activity can be used to navigate the overwhelming volume of scholarly literature. He is concerned with the spread of disinformation on social networks, and interested in what can be done.
