Volunteer Opportunity for Florence Nightingale Day – 10/22

We are looking for volunteers to help with a Florence Nightingale Day event happening on Saturday, October 22nd at the Harvard Science Center. The purpose of this event is to expose 8-12th grade students to statistics, biostatistics, and data science and to celebrate women in these fields. The event will include hands-on activities, games, small group discussions, career and college panels, and lunch. In addition to the activities for students, there will also be programming for parents and local teachers. We need volunteers to help make this event a success! If you have experience or an interest in working with youth from underrepresented communities in statistics, including women and students of color, this event will be a great fit for you.

The primary responsibilities of volunteers include:

  • Attending a 1 hour training session the week of Oct 17th
  • Participating in Florence Nightingale Day on October 22nd

If you would like to volunteer please fill out this form by October 10th. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt to wear at the event. Here again is the form to sign-up to be a volunteer: https://forms.gle/Bknp8XAc3uAkYBdMA We sure hope you will consider volunteering to help as we believe the event has the potential to have a really positive impact on members of our community.
