Seeking Volunteers for Data Adventure Day
We are looking for volunteers to help with a Data Adventure Day event happening from 9:30am to 2:00pm on Friday, November 8th at the Harvard University Science Center (1 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA 02138). This event is designed to expose local high school students to statistics and data science through hands-on activities and interactions with Harvard students, faculty, and staff. Our event will also celebrate the contributions of statisticians and data scientists from underrepresented groups, including women and people of color, and support efforts to enhance diversity and inclusion in these fields.
We need volunteers to help make this event a success! The primary responsibilities of volunteers include:
- Attending one virtual 1 hour training session either on Tuesday, October 22 from 4-5pm EST or on Friday, October 25th from 3-4pm EST and completing required readings from the Youth Protection Office.
- Participating in Data Adventure Day on Friday, November 8th.
Volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt. If you would like to sign-up to be a volunteer, fill out the following form by Friday, October 11th: https://forms.gle/isBHeT6iMMrunzo57 . Please note that we have spots for 50 volunteers and will send you an email confirmation reserving your spot based on available space. We will email you your volunteer assignment by October 18th at the latest. Note: If you have already reached out to us about co-leading a Stats Activity, we will be in touch within the next week with further details.
We sure hope you will consider volunteering to help as we believe the event has the potential to have a really positive impact on members of our community. Please reach out to data-adventure@fas.harvard.edu or emily_palmer@fas.harvard.edu if you have any questions.
