The 2023 PQG Conference: Diversity in Genetics and Genomics was held at the Joseph Martin Conference Center this past Oct 17-18. It marked an exciting return to in-person meeting for the first time in three years, and the event felt both intimate and inspiring, as highly engaged discussions were held around the importance of diversity throughout genetics and genomics research—including research on diseases in underrepresented groups, improving data analysis for those groups, and holding transparent conversations with the broader public. The final panel generated some rich conversations of how researchers might take responsibility for addressing both current and down-the-road impacts of incorporating diversity in their own research.
