Yerby Diversity Lecture in Public Health – 3/23

Yerby Diversity Lecture in Public HealthThursday, March 23 | 1:00-2:00 pm ET via Zoom“Toppling Statues in Academic Public Health” Linda A. Alexander, EdDChief Academic Officer, Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health

In our spring 2023 Yerby Lecture, Dr. Alexander highlights the need to dismantle structural racism and racism in academic public health by highlighting the relevant actions necessary for change. Listeners will be provided a space to affirm their reality, examine cultural biases, shift thinking around the urgency of priority setting, and learn more about enablers that inspire belonging and inclusion versus those that stifle a successful trajectory toward equity. An underlying theme of this talk will incite the need to reexamine the “three-legged stool” model traditionally revered in the academy to be more inclusive of the collective wisdom of community voices and acknowledgement of community experiences of trauma and pain.Register here
