Biostatistics Journal Club: Statistical Considerations in Studies of Assisted Reproduction Register here
Wednesday, December 7, 2022 1:00 pm – 2:00 pmLaura Dodge, ScD, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will discuss statistical considerations in studies of assisted reproduction. In vitro fertilization (IVF) is an increasingly common way for people to build their families and currently accounts for 1-2% of births in the United States. The scientific literature supporting the use of IVF is also growing. Analysis of IVF and other fertility treatment methods present unique methodological challenges, including repeated measures, informative censoring, and hierarchical clustering. Challenges in choosing the appropriate unit of analysis and proper numerators and denominators are also present. This session will provide an overview of the IVF process, describe common pitfalls in IVF-related research, and review best practices for future work.
