Biography
Trained in both engineering and emergency medicine, Dr. Rothenhaus is currently Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the Caritas Christi Health Care, the second largest health system in Massachusetts. Dr. Rothenhaus oversees a staff of over two hundred dedicated IT professionals charged with executing Caritas’ three-year, $75 million, information technology strategic plan.
Dr. Rothenhaus has served on numerous national health information technology organizations, including Health Level 7 (HL7), the ANSI Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP), Integrating the Health Care Enterprise (IHE), and the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). He has authored over fifty publications, and participated in the development of a number of major health care IT standards. He also serves on the Health Informatics faculty at Northeastern University.
Prior to joining Caritas Christi, Dr. Rothenhaus was an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, where he served as Assistant Residency Program Director, Director of Medical Informatics, and Medical Director of the Newton Emergency Department of the Boston Medical Center.
Dr. Rothenhaus graduated from the Tulane University school of Engineering, and completed medical school, internship, and residency at the George Washington University.
