Biography

Mr. DiBerardinis received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University and a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene from Harvard University. He received his Certification in Industrial Hygiene and Certification as a Safety Professional.

Mr. DiBerardinis has been affiliated with M.I.T. since 1989. He was the Director, Environment, Health and Safety from 2001 to 2023. Mr. DiBerardinis was an Industrial Hygiene Engineer for Polaroid Corporation from 1986-1989. He joined Harvard University in 1970 as part of a research group at the School of Public Health and from 1976 to 1986, he established and directed the Industrial Hygiene Program within the Harvard University Health Services.

Mr. DiBerardinis has been a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard University School of Public Health since 1986 where he currently teaches in several graduate courses and continuing education programs. He is the author of numerous technical publications and co-authored the text “Guidelines for Laboratory Design: Health and Safety Considerations” and is editor of the "Handbook of Occupational Safety and Health, 2nd edition" both published by John Wiley and Sons. He served as chair of the ANSI Z9.5 subcommittee on Laboratory Ventilation from 1984 to 2006.
