Antonio Lora
Biography
Born in Milan in 1955, graduated in Medicine in 1979 at University of Milan (Italy) and specialized in Psychiatry in 1983 at the Institute of Psychiatry of the University of Milan. Clinical psychiatrist in the Departments of Mental Health of Lombardy Region from 1981; from 2010 till to retirement in 2022 Director of the Department of Mental Health in Lecco. From 1983 until now consultant on mental health information system, on quality of mental health care and on evaluation of mental health services at the Department of Health of Lombardy Region, from 1998 until now consultant at the Italian Ministry of Health on the same issues. In 2003 member of the staff of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse – World Health Organization (Geneva) for developing and implementing WHO AIMS (a system of indicators for evaluating mental health system and services); from 2004 until to 2020 Consultant at the same WHO Department for monitoring and evaluating mental health services in low and medium income countries. Past President of the Italian Society of Psychiatric Epidemiology (2007-2011). Actually scientific coordinator for Lombardy Region of two European Projects (HORIZON 2020 RESPOND and Joint Action ImpleMental). RESPOND is aimed to evaluate the effects of COVID19 on mental health, while in ImpleMental Lombardy Region is co-leader of the Work Package on implementation of best practices at community care level.
