Biography
Dr. Ugai is an MD/PhD physician scientist with expertise in pathology, clinical oncology, cancer epidemiology, and molecular epidemiology. Dr. Ugai is a Professor at University of Tokyo and a Division Chair of two divisions at National Cancer Center Japan: Division of Integrative Cancer Research and Division of Cancer Prevention. Dr. Ugai has served as Adjunct Faculty at Zhu Family Center for Global Cancer Prevention at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Clinical & Translational Epidemiology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital to develop international collaborative research in many fields. His research goal is to build up scientific evidence integrating germline genetics, lifestyles, and biomarkers in serum, stool, and tumor to (a) develop effective immuno-prevention and early-detection strategies, and (b) identify novel biomarkers to guide early-stage clinical decisions. Dr. Ugai also leads a variety of research to decipher the etiology of early-onset cancer.
