Biography

Giuseppe (Bepi) Raviola, M.D., M.P.H., is Director of Mental Health for Partners In Health, Associate Director of the Chester M. Pierce M.D. Division of Global Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Director of the Program in Global Mental Health and Social Change at Harvard Medical School. His work sits at the intersection of Psychiatry, Global Health, and Social Medicine, to promote the development of innovative models of delivery of mental healthcare to people living in the economically poorest communities in the world, and to show evidence for these advances. Over two decades of working in global health delivery Dr. Raviola has accompanied front-line implementers of mental health service delivery programs, engaging in emergency response to humanitarian crises, pandemic care including HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and COVID-19, and seeking the integration of mental health in strengthening health systems. In 2021 he was a recipient of the Bruno Lima Award in Disaster Psychiatry from the American Psychiatric Association, recognizing outstanding contributions in the care and understanding of the victims of disaster, and the Outstanding Psychiatrist for Advancement of the Profession from the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society, which represents the majority of psychiatrists in the Commonwealth. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
