Inkyu Eric Kang (he/him) is an inaugural LGBTQ Health Equity Fellow of the LGBTQ Center for Health Excellence at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health pursuing an MPH degree in Quantitative Methods. Eric is also a medical student in the BS/MD dual-degree program at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is passionate about health equity and mental health with plans to apply for a psychiatry residency in 2026. He has previously studied attitudes and knowledge of PrEP among MSM and trans women on Long Island, the largest suburban HIV epidemic in the US. While in medical school he has focused on community engagement organizing LGBTQ events and initiatives with Northwell Health’s Transgender Health Program and spearheading the creation of Northwell Health’s LGBTQIA+ OUTList to promote visibility and networking within the organization. At Harvard he is completing his MPH Practicum with Dr. Yee-Ming Chan at the Gender Multispecialty Service at Boston Children’s Hospital conducting clinical research evaluating the long-term effects of hormone therapy on laboratory parameters among transgender youth. Eric’s interests outside of medicine and public health include playing the bassoon, Spanish language and culture, and swimming.
