Carlos Alberto Larrauri, JD, MPA, MSN

Biography

Carlos A. Larrauri, JD, MSN, MPA, is a faculty member in the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Executive and Continuing Education program, where he teaches in Mental Health Leadership: Transformation Through Innovation. He also serves as Co-chair of the Accelerating Medicines Partnership® Schizophrenia, a $117.7 million public-private partnership managed by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health that is accelerating the development of tools and data to enable earlier, more effective treatment for individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis.

Working at the intersection of law, policy, and mental health, his scholarship has appeared in World Psychiatry, Nature Mental Health, Schizophrenia, Psychiatric Services, JMIR Mental Health, and Early Intervention in Psychiatry, with forthcoming chapters from Cambridge University Press and the American Psychiatric Association. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and NAMI Miami-Dade County and has worked with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the Broad Institute’s Psychiatric Biomarkers Network, and the Healthy Brains Global Initiative to advance mental health research and policy. A frequently invited speaker, he was an honored presenter at the National Institute of Mental Health’s 75th Anniversary Symposium.

Mr. Larrauri earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the Michigan Law Review, while concurrently completing an MPA at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a Zuckerman Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership, pursuing research methodology and quantitative methods training. After law school, he served as a judicial law clerk in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He also holds an MSN from the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies and is dual board-certified as a family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.
