In memoriam
Michael A. Wolfson, devoted his life to medicine, public health, environmental justice, and his family. As a physician specializing in family practice and occupational and environmental medicine, he spent decades advocating against environmental hazards and injustices long before many recognized their impact on communities and public health. He was deeply committed to helping others and was known among family, friends, and patients for his willingness to offer guidance, solve difficult medical problems, and care for those in need.
Wolfson had a number of degrees, including an MPH from Harvard Chan School, where he also served as a senior research scientist.
At a young age, Paul Lierhaus, developed a lifelong passion for science; and as a teenager, he immersed himself in history and physics. He went on to earn a master’s from Harvard Chan School. Many years later, Lierhaus taught himself computer programming and built a software engineering career at Polaroid and Avid. He and his wife Alison, and two daughters settled in Harvard in the nineties, “drawn not by the schools but because he read about the “nice views.”” Lierhaus remained in the Harvard Bridge and Cable Committee communities for many, many years.
