Biography
Gary Zackowitz is a Program Officer with the Office of Biodefense Research Affairs in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the NIH. Gary is a registered architect with 30 years' experience in private sector and government facility design specializing in research and health care facilities. As a NIAID Program Officer, he oversees the planning and construction of several Extramural BSL3 and BSL4 Biocontainment Laboratories across the nation as part of the NIAID Biodefense Agenda. He also has collaborated on the design of BSL3 facilities for international projects supported by NIAID.
Prior to joining NIAID Gary was the Chief of the Quality Assurance Branch of the Division of Policy and Program Assessment at NIH. He is also a contributor to the NIH Design Policy and Guidelines and the BMBL (5th edition).
