SUMMARY:A Fireside Chat with Dr. Walter Willett: Sustainable Food and Creating Effective Change
DESCRIPTION:Home / Kresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis will be an informal\, dynamic conversation with Dr. Walter Willett about sustainable food systems\, the planetary health diet\, and how to effectively create change for public health. Dr. Willett is a Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health\, a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School\, a world-renowned researcher\, and an author. In the past few years\, he has been the co-chair of the EATLancet Commission\, a collection of 37 world-leading scientists investigating how to feed the future global population of 10 billion people the healthiest diet within planetary boundaries. The resulting EATLancet report and the planetary health diet that it promotes are redefining the scope and perception of what nutrition and sustainable food systems will look like in the coming years. This conversation will touch upon how he has achieved success in past endeavors\, such as leading the ban on the use of trans fats\, and how the next generation can navigate creating change despite the presence of strong contradictory stakeholders. The fireside chat will be followed by a Q&A with Dr. Willett and time to connect with other individuals passionate about food\, sustainability\, and health. \n\n\nPlease RSVP by March 25th for catering purposes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Unleash your potential at Harvard Chan School. \n In addition to our degree programs\, we offer highly targeted programs through our Advanced Learning Academy\, directed and taught by Harvard faculty. \n \n \n \n Degree Programs \n \n \n \n How to Apply \n \n \n \n Advanced Learning Academy

SUMMARY:CCDD ID Epi Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:Home / Kresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTalk title: Living in a Parallel Universe? Difference-in-differences for infectious disease policy evaluation \n\n\nPresenter: Alyssa Bilinski\, Peterson Family Assistant Professor of Health Policy at Brown University School of Public Health \n\n\nAlyssa Bilinski is the Peterson Family Assistant Professor of Health Policy in the Brown University Departments of Health Services\, Policy & Practice and Biostatistics. Her research lies at the intersection of policy evaluation and modeling\, developing novel methods to assess real-world program impact and using resulting estimates to inform future projections. She will discuss pitfalls of popular “difference-in-differences” analyses with infectious disease outcomes and propose alternatives informed by transmission dynamic theory. Outside of work\, she enjoys powerlifting and all-day baking projects. \n\n\nAbout the series: Each spring\, CCDD hosts an annual seminar series featuring talks from experts on the latest research in infectious disease epidemiology and modeling. The ID Epi Seminar Series aims to bring in speakers from various disciplines within infectious disease epidemiology\, broadly defined to include the population biology of pathogens and other allied topics. Seminars will be held on Thursdays\, unless otherwise noted\, at 1pm ET between February 2nd and May 9th with the exception of March 14th (spring break). \n\n\nRegister for the seminar here. hsph.me/idepi24 \n\n\nSpeakers will share their own perspectives; they do not speak for Harvard. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Unleash your potential at Harvard Chan School. \n In addition to our degree programs\, we offer highly targeted programs through our Advanced Learning Academy\, directed and taught by Harvard faculty. \n \n \n \n Degree Programs \n \n \n \n How to Apply \n \n \n \n Advanced Learning Academy

But the impact of chemicals on our health and environment are often after-thoughts\, especially for the companies that use them. This is true despite numerous examples where industrial chemicals have caused cancer\, maternal and pediatric harm\, and cardiovascular issues. Join Morris and James-Todd as they discuss what his reporting and her research show about corporate disregard for environmental harms\, lack of poor enforcement of regulations\, and the health harms and environmental justice problems these create. \n\n\nCopies of The Cancer Factory will be available for sale. \n\n\nSubscribe to the HPH newsletter for more. \n\n\nCoffee\, tea and snacks served\nHarvard T.H. SUMMARY:Making a health case for reparations in Boston
DESCRIPTION:Home / Kresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKresge Building\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nPresented jointly with the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights \n\n\nAs the national conversation on reparations heats up\, Boston has launched a task force to document the city’s ties to slavery\, examine the legacy of structural racism\, and recommend paths for redress. Meanwhile\, public health leaders are beginning to explore how they can contribute their expertise. This event brings together City Councilor At-Large Julia Mejia\, who pressed for the reparations task force\, and public health scholar Mary Bassett\, who has written extensively about how reparations could help close huge racial disparities in health outcomes. The two will discuss the basis for reparations\, how they could affect health and well-being\, and how public health research could inform program design. They’ll also look at how Boston’s efforts fit into the national discussion. \n\n\nRegister for free to submit your questions. \n\n\nAn on-demand video will be posted after the event. \n\n\nSPEAKERS \n\n\nMary Bassett\, Director\, François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights\, and FXB Professor of the Practice of Health and Human Rights\, Harvard T.H. Within minutes\, authorities from multiple jurisdictions launched an extraordinary collaborative effort to treat victims\, clear crowds\, track down the bombers\, and calm a rattled city. Researchers would later call that approach “swarm leadership.” A decade later\, we bring together leaders from the front lines and emergency preparedness experts to tell the inside story of the response. Our panelists will share key lessons learned and explore how the principles and practices implemented in Boston can help us prepare for future crises. \n\n\nRegister for free to submit your questions. \n\n\nAn on-demand video will be posted after the event. \n\n\nSPEAKERS \n\n\nLeonard Marcus\, Founding Co-Director of the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative\, Harvard University\, and Founding Director of the Program for Health Care Negotiation and Conflict Resolution \n\n\nEric McNulty\, Associate Director\, National Preparedness Leadership Initiative\, Harvard University \n\n\nS.
