Evidence Synthesis in Preparedness

The EPREP Program has vast experience in developing literature reviews in emergency preparedness. Such reviews have been used by the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the creation of the Guidance on Communicating Risk in Public Health Emergencies  in 2018 and by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) in 2020 to facilitate discussion regarding the development of a research agenda in public health emergency preparedness and response (PHEPR). The report “Review and Evidence Mapping of Scholarly Publications Within the CDC’s 15 Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Capabilities” provides a comprehensive literature review and  recommendations aimed at ensuring that PHEPR practice is grounded in robust evidence for what works, where, why, and for whom. A webinar presents the results of this review. The EPREP team is currently conducting a literature review sponsored by Pfizer on COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among African Americans.
