Biography
Royce Ellen Clifford, MD, MPH, was in private practice in Southern California in the specialty of Otolaryngology for 16 years before joining the Navy. She was awarded flight surgeon’s wings in 2000, and went to Iraq in 2004 with a Cobra and Huey helicopter squadron. As the only otolaryngologist for the military during this timeframe, she saw and triaged numerous Marines and soldiers with hearing loss secondary to explosive devices.
She graduated from Harvard University School of Public Health in 2005-6 as part of the Navy’s Aerospace Residency Program. Currently, she is working with scientists in the Bio-engineering Department and Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences on solutions to the problem of hearing protection for impulse noise.
