Biography
Dr. Chan is a pharmacoepidemiologist whose research has focused on safety and utilization of drugs and vaccines — in particular, studying them through large, linked automated health care databases. Prior to joining Optum in 2005, he was director of the pharmacoepidemiology program at the Harvard School of Public Health, and an associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard. Dr. Chan was elected Fellow of the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology in 2003. More than 100 of his articles have been published in peer reviewed journals and books. He is a co-editor of the textbook 'Pharmacoepidemiology and Therapeutic Risk Management,' which was published by Harvey Whitney Books in February 2008.
