Biography
JULIA NORDGREN, MD, ‘13 is a physician, an expert in childhood obesity and cholesterol disorders,
and a trained chef. She received her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in 1999.
She is a board-certified pediatrician, and a specialist in dyslipidemias, weight management, and
heart disease prevention. She is an active member of the National Lipid Association’s Pediatric
Practice Management Committee, which strives to prevent heart disease through early lifestyle
interventions. Dr. Nordgren graduated from the Culinary Institute of America’s Accelerated
Culinary Arts Program with honors in 2013. Her healthy cooking style draws from the many
great techniques of cuisines all over the world. She believes that a healthy, flavorful diet is the
foundation for good health and disease prevention. Dr. Nordgren is currently designing a
nutrition and culinary education program for medical students. She is also writing a cookbook
and giving workshops on healthy, affordable eating. She recently worked as a sous-chef on
WGBH-TV’s cooking show, “Moveable Feast with Fine Cooking.” She tests many of her recipes
on her husband and two boys, who luckily have adventurous appetites and honest opinions.
