Biography

Dr. Jimenez-Sanchez is the Executive President of Global Biotech Consulting Group and an Adjunct Professor
of Genomics and Bioeconomy in the Department of Epidemiology at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is the Chairman of the Board of Genomica y Bioecomia, a nonprofit organization focused on genomics innovation. He is a certified pediatrician, with a PhD in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University, and has a degree in business administration. At the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), he serves as President of the Working Party on Biotechnology. He is a Professor of Genomic Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, a member of the Medical and Scientific Board to the Social Security and Social Services Institute in Mexico, and a member of the National Academy of Medicine.

Dr. Jimenez-Sanchez is the Founding Director of the National Institute of Genomic Medicine in Mexico, where he led the team that published the Genomic Diversity Project of Mexican Populations. He is currently a member of
the Scientific Council for the Grand Challenges in Genomics at the World Health Organization. Among his many
leadership positions, he serves as a Council member to the Human Genome Organization (HUGO) and as President
of HUGO’s Committee on Genomics and Bioeconomy. He recently chaired the International Forum “Genomic
Innovation and Economic Growth.

His research and teaching focuses on how genomics influences biology, the effect of genomic applications on medical practice, and harnessing genomic medicine for economic growth. Dr. Jimenez-Sanchez developed the first medical analysis of the human genome, which was published along with the results of The Human Genome Project.
