Eric Parmenter is a recognized national leader in total rewards for the health care provider industry. He is a frequent moderator of panel discussions on the topic and a speaker at seminars and workshops across the country. Prior to joining Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson), Eric was the Midwest Practice Leader for Compensation and Benefit Consulting at Grant Thornton LLP and prior to that he owned his own benefit consulting, outsourcing and administration firm in Central Illinois.

Eric has addressed audiences ranging from the Harvard Forces of Change Conference to the Midwest Business Group on Health to the Conference Board Health Care Conference. He is an award-winning author, and has written several articles on human resource and employee benefit topics such as the top ten companies to work for in America, HR on the web, café plans, health care cost containment, benefit outsourcing, and benefit compliance in publications including Journal of Financial Service Professionals, Compensation and Benefits Review, and the Journal of Medical Practice Management. His three featured articles in the January 2002 (EGTRAA), July 2003 (Controlling Health Care Cost), and July 2004 (Health Care Crisis), issues of the Journal of Financial Service Professionals generated accolades from benefit practitioners nationally and his Health Care Crisis article won 2nd place in the Journal’s Author Awards for best article of the year. Eric has been nominated for the Crain’s Chicago Business 40 under 40 award. Eric is a member of several professional human resource, employee benefit and compensation professional organizations.

Eric Parmenter is a senior consultant in Towers Watson’s Health and Group Benefits practice. He runs the Middle Market Health and Group Benefits sector and the Hospital Industry Outreach focus for Towers Watson nationally. His areas of focus include executive compensation and benefits, total rewards, workforce effectiveness and health care benefits.

Education and Credentials

He holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Illinois and views total rewards from a human capital point of view and the standpoint of human behavior, motivation and employee engagement. He also holds an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
