Biography

As Chief Information Officer for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Priebe is responsible for the development and productive use of information systems at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization. He is also responsible for the leadership of several application support teams within the Partners HealthCare Information Services Department. Among Dr. Priebe’s recent areas of focus are the implementations of the Epic systems across the family of Brigham and Women’s affiliated institutions within the enterprise implementation of Epic, branded as the Partners eCare project. This project will upgrade and replace multiple administrative and clinical systems across Partners HealthCare with a consolidated, state-of-the-art information system technology and workflow processes.

A graduate from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Priebe’s particular areas of research interest and investigation in medical informatics include the effectiveness of automated in-process decision support to improve safety and quality of patient care.

Prior to joining Partners HealthCare, Dr. Priebe held several leadership positions in the healthcare IT industry with IDX Systems Corporation, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions and McKesson Healthcare Solutions. More recently, Dr. Priebe spent nearly ten years in CMIO and CIO roles at the Care New England Health System in Rhode Island.

Dr. Priebe’s current clinical activities include attending on the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Newborn Nursery hospitalist service. In this setting he also supervises and teaches Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Residents and Harvard Medical Students.
