Bob Nease, PhD

Vice President
Express Scripts, Inc.

Biography

As vice president of knowledge management at Express Scripts, Bob Nease investigates how patients feel about different health outcomes, the health benefit associated with treating various conditions using prescription drugs, and the cost of those treatments. He also analyzes how various PBM business models affect plan-sponsor costs through differences in the management of both brand-name and generic drugs. Dr. Nease received his PhD in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, where he worked on methods to improve medical decisions made by both doctors and patients. He is the past President of the Society for Medical Decision Making, has served as a study section member of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and is a reviewer for a number of journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Annals of Internal Medicine, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, Quality of Life Research, and Medical Decision Making. In addition to his responsibilities at Express Scripts, Dr. Nease is currently an associate professor of Internal Medicine at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
