Biography
Al Lewis, president of the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium, is widely credited with inventing disease management. He was the founder and first president of the Disease Management Association of America. He has been consistently ranked as the most influential person in the field by Managed Healthcare magazine. His book, The Next Generation of Disease Management, is about to enter its second edition. Both Mitt Romney and James Carville have publicly cited his expertise, and he writes op-eds regularly for the San Francisco Chronicle, and will be interviewed next week on WBZ's top-rated Nightside with Dan Rea.
