DESCRIPTION:Home / Events\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYerby Research Symposium & Reception\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type \n\n\n\n	From Around the School\, Lectures/Seminars/Forums\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n Register Today	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCountway Library is hosting a film screening series in honor of Pride Month! \n\n\nDo I Sound Gay? is a 2014 American documentary film by David Thorpe that explores the existence and accuracy of stereotypes about the speech patterns of gay men\, and the ways in which one’s degree of conformity to the stereotype can contribute to internalized homophobia. Other figures participating in the film include Dan Savage\, George Takei\, David Sedaris\, Tim Gunn\, and Margaret Cho\, as well as University of Toronto linguist Ron Smyth. \n\n\nDavid Thorpe becomes concerned that his gay-sounding voice is limiting his opportunities in life. He visits two speech therapists to evaluate his condition and help him gain control of his speaking voice. Eventually he realizes that he intentionally changed his voice at about age 17 when he came out and wanted others to know he was gay. \n\n\nNo registration is necessary; drop-ins with Harvard IDs are welcome! \n\n\n\nAnd be sure to join us for these other Pride Month film screenings at Countway: \n\n\nThe Normal Heart (June 11\, 4:30-6pm) \n\n\nPRIDE (June 25\, 4:30-6pm) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Unleash your potential at Harvard Chan School. \n In addition to our degree programs\, we offer highly targeted executive and continuing education\, directed and taught by Harvard faculty. \n \n \n \n Degree Programs \n \n \n \n How to Apply \n \n \n \n Executive and Continuing Education

DESCRIPTION:Home / Events\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYerby Research Symposium & Reception\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTime \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Type \n\n\n\n	From Around the School\, Lectures/Seminars/Forums\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n Register Today	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBias and racism continue to infiltrate many aspects of the medical and biomedical field. This workshop series is designed to empower participants with the tools to resist racism and racist practices and to work towards positive change. \n\n\nThrough five sessions taking place July to August 2024\, facilitators will present an overview of antiracist theory and methodology. Building on this foundational knowledge\, participants will then explore how an antiracism practice can improve their experiences in their respective fields\, help them recast an existing project or problem through an antiracist lens\, and empower them to be actively antiracist in their professional and personal lives. \n\n\nThis series was designed for Harvard faculty\, staff\, and trainees. \n\n\nApplications are due June 19. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n Unleash your potential at Harvard Chan School. \n In addition to our degree programs\, we offer highly targeted executive and continuing education\, directed and taught by Harvard faculty. \n \n \n \n Degree Programs \n \n \n \n How to Apply \n \n \n \n Executive and Continuing Education
